Chorlton Express Transport Ltd established 1984 by Michael Chorlton.

Michael Chorlton commenced employment as a mechanic in a small car garage located near Holllingworth Lake, Littleborough, before gaining his HGV licence and taking a position as a tipper wagon driver frequenting the local quarries.

Liking the transport industry, Michael moved to a large local hauliers, his delivery route the picturesque County of Cumbria. From the wheel Michael progressed to the transport office gaining his certificate of professional competence and becoming traffic manager.

In 1984 Michael was made redundant and Chorlton Express Transport was founded. Michael bought a small Luton box van and as a one man band started to deliver parcels around the local areas, using his garage as a warehouse. Soon the garage was full and a kind neighbour offered Michael the use of his garage too, however it did not take long before the neighbours garage was also full and Michael made the move to his first commercial premises at Calderbrook, Littleborough.
